Diplôme d’Étude et d’Approfondissement de Langue Française (DELF/DALF)
The DELF/DALF is an official French diploma, awarded by the French Ministry of Education. It is valid for life and recognised worldwide. Obtaining this diploma offers many advantages:
- Open doors to scholarships, exchange programmes, and professional opportunities abroad.
- Boost your CV and stand out to employers in international companies.
- Access higher education in France and many other French-speaking countries.
- Fulfil immigration requirements in countries where proof of French is needed.
- Certify your progress at levels A1 to C2 of the CEFR, with an internationally trusted standard.
The DELF/DALF exam assesses the four key language skills:
Listening, reading, writing and speaking. Each skill is graded out of 25 points, for a total of 100 points.
To pass the exam and obtain your diploma, you must score at least 50/100, with a minimum of 5/25 in each skill.
There are three types of DELF exam:
- DELF Tout Public (TP): for adults who wish to assess their French language skills for personal or professional reasons. Levels A1 to B2.
- DELF Junior: for teenagers aged 11 to 17. Level A1 to B2.
- DELF Prim: for children aged 7 to 12. Level A1.1, A1 and A2.
Conditions
All communication prior to and after the exam is done via email. Late applications are subject to a fee of €10.
Exams are held at AFMM in Hamrun and/or in our examination centres.
- Registration fees for the DELF/DALF exams are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- The dates of the written/oral exams are final and cannot be changed.
- Candidates must be punctual; otherwise, the exam will not be valid.
- Candidates are to bring their ID card and writing materials with them on the day of the exam.
- In the case of a candidate who is taken ill on the day of the exam, they should contact Alliance Française to check whether arrangements can be made to sit for the exam at the next scheduled session, upon presentation of a medical certificate.
