TCF IRN (Integration, Residence and Nationality)

The TCF IRN is intended for any foreign national over the age of 16 who wishes to certify their level of French for:

• an application for French citizenship (B2 required)
• an application for a long-term resident permit (B1 required)
• an application for a multi-year residence permit (A2 required)
• validation of level A1 as part of the OFII civic integration course

Exam structure

The TCF IRN consists of 4 compulsory tests assessing general French language skills:

• Listening comprehension
• Reading comprehension
• Written expression
• Oral expression

Total exam duration: 1 hour 35 minutes.

Level assessed

The TCF IRN assesses language skills up to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It does not test knowledge of French history, culture or society.

Results

Your results will be available in your TCF-Candidate account and will be available within 3 weeks.
Your results certificate can be downloaded from your personal TCF-Candidate account. It is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
